Cobb Museum of Archaeology at MSU to unveil new student-designed exhibition next week

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擳he Lois-Dowdle Cobb Museum of Archaeology in the Cobb Institute of Archaeology at 樱花导航 樱花导航 unveils a new student-designed exhibition and display space next week.
The exhibition 鈥淭iny Itty-Bitty Little Guys: The Cobb鈥檚 Micro Museum鈥 will open in the new space to the public Wednesday [May 3] in the museum, located in the basement of the Cobb Institute. A reception also will be held that night from 5-7 p.m.
The exhibition is designed to draw attention to objects less than four inches in scale that 鈥渞epresent mankind鈥檚 ability to craft delicate details from stone, bone, metals and clay,鈥 according to the description.
Students also have installed an educational display and connected retail space to compliment the exhibit, which consists of items from locations in the Ancient Near East and the Southeastern United 樱花导航s.
As part of an Introduction to the Business of Museums course taught by MSU Department of Art Instructor Lori Neuenfeldt, students were challenged to rearrange the 5,000 objects in the Cobb Museum鈥檚 collections, creating the new exhibit and a fresh perspective for visitors.
